&nbsp;&quot;لمّا تحسي إنك متضايقة، مُكبّلة، أو مُحبطَة &ndash; افتكري بالتفصيل آخر مُجاملة سمعتيها&quot;

لفترة طويلة بحثت عن الآثار الإيجابية للمُجاملات واكتشفت إن استرجاع المجاملات في الذهن بيساعدنا إننا نتعامل بشكل أفضل مع مشاعرنا المؤلمة وممكن يكون الطريق لاستعادة سعادتنا وحماسنا تجاه الموقف اللي بنمر به.

المُجاملات تجعلنا نشعر بإننا أفضل، لنا قيمة، ومُقدّرين. 
&nbsp;المُجاملات تُحفّز مناطق المخ المُرتبطة بالمكافآت المادية، وممكن تساعد في تعلم مهارة أو سلوك جديد.

بالإضافة لكده، المجاملات لها دور في زيادة شعورنا بالانتماء، والبقاء ومن ثم النمو والتطور.

لكن &ndash; هل ممكن فعلا إننا نحصل على مجاملة في غير محلها؟

النوايا الحسنة، النتائج السيئة: 
لمّا كنت باعاني من اضطراب الأكل &ndash; كنت فقط باتناول الطعام المُصنّف باعتباره &quot;نظيف&quot;، كنت مهووسة بفكرة &quot;نمط الحياة الصحي&quot;، مُلتزمة بعادات أكل قاسية، وكنت الشخص الأفضل في إنكار احتياجاتي ومنح الأولوية لاحتياجات الغير &ndash; أو ما هو معروف بال &quot;الشخص الذي يسترضي الآخرين&quot;.

بشكل ظاهري &ndash; تعكس السلوكيات السابقة مفهوم الشخص الكامل المثالي، وعليه كنت باتلقى مجاملات تمدح في شكل جسدي &quot;النحيف&quot;، تمدح في نمط حياتي، عادات أكلي، وأخيرا شخصيتي.

السلوكيات دي كانت بمثابة البذور الأولى لاضطراب الأكل &ndash; ولأن ما نرعاه ينمو &ndash; فالمجاملات اللي كنت باتلقاها على سلوكي هي اللي منحت الأنوركسيا الحياة.

وعلشان كده لازم نتحرّى معنى وأثر أي مجاملة قبل ما نقولها.

صورة الجسد &ndash; صورة الذات: 
إحنا بنعيش في ثقافة تمدح وتدعم شكل نمطي محدد مثالي للجسد، وترسخ لفكرة وجود علاقة بين صورة الجسد وصورة الذات. 
ممكن ببساطة نكتشف هذا الأمر بمجرد ما نشاهد التليفزيون أو نندمج في حوار عائلي. 
وقتها هانكتشف الهوس بأفكار فقدان الوزن، بناء العضلات، تناول الطعام الصحي والربط بينها وبين السعادة والقوة وربما إنك تكون شخص محبوب. 
وبناء عليه، أصبحنا نتبنّى ونشجع أي سلوك ممكن يحقق الاحتياجات السابقة وأيضا يحقق لنا الإحساس بالأمان وبإننا مانزال ننتمي لتلك الثقافة.

الهادم والداعم: 
إحنا مانعرفش كتير عن اللي بيمر به الناس اللي حوالينا. 
بعض الناس لا تملك القدرة على التعامل بشكل صحيح مع مشاعرها غير المريحة. 
وقتها ممكن تحاول إنها تخدّر هذه المشاعر، أو تتجاهلها، أو تحاول تبحث عن معنى لها من خلال تبني آليات سيئة التكيف.

واحدة من أهم هذه الآليات هي فكرة التحكم في شكل الجسد. 
&nbsp;بالتالي: تلقي مجاملات تمدح في هذا التحكم يعني بشكل مباشر أننا ندعم هذه الآلية &ndash; حتى لو كان الشخص الذي يمنح المجاملة لا يقصد ولا يعلم بعواقب الأمر.

بحسب &quot;بيثاني جوبي Bethany Juby، وميشيل بوغل Michelle Pugle&quot; &ndash; الفعل ده اسمه &quot;تمكين السلوك الخاطيء&quot; &ndash; ويعني: 
&nbsp;&quot;التشجيع على وجود عادة خاطئة بدلا من دعم أخرى جيدة&quot;.

ولذلك، فامتداح السلوك المرتبط بتقييد الطعام قد يعني التشجيع على أومباركة احتمال وجود اضطراب، وربما تمكين لفكرة تخدير المشاعر. 
والحل الأفضل للخروج من هذه الدائرة يتم عن طريق إننا نكون &quot;الطرف الداعم للعادة الجيدة.&quot;

المجاملات الأبقى: 
يقول &quot;كارل يونج Carl Jung&quot;: &quot;تخبرنا مشاعرنا بما هو مهم بالنسبة لنا&quot;.

اعتاد معظمنا على فكرة القبول والاحتفاء بالمشاعر &quot;الجيدة&quot;، وتجاهل وإنكار المشاعر &quot;السيئة&quot;. 
تعلّمنا فقط كيف نشعر بالسعادة،، لكن لم نتعلّم كيف نشعر بالغضب.

تبقى المشاعر واحدة &ndash; والقدرة على التعامل مع المشاعر &quot;السيئة&quot; أو اكتشاف أسبابها غير الظاهرة هو التعريف الحقيقي للنمو والذكاء العاطفي.

وعليه، متى شعرت بالخوف أو الغضب أو أي مشاعر &nbsp;أخرى غير مريحة ، لابد أن تتعرّف عليها وتشعر بها. 
&nbsp;ومتى اختبرت خوف أو غضب شخص آخر لابد أن تتعلّم مهارة الاستجابة لمشاعره أو مشاعرها بشكل صحي.

يمكنك أن تجامل نفسك، اصنع قائمة بالصفات الجيدة التي تحملها، وتجنب قدر الإمكان مدح جسدك أو مظهرك. فكّر في &quot;صفاتك الحسنة&quot; ولا تفكر في &quot;كيف يبدو شكلك&quot;.

استمع إلى معاناة الآخرين دون أن تُصدر عليهم أو علي معاناتهم أي أحكام، حاول ألا تسعى إلى إصلاح أو تعديل سلوكهم، ولا تُعلّق على شكل أجسادهم أو عادات أكلهم.

تعزّز المجاملات هورمونات السعادة، ويبقى أثرها في ذهن مُتلقيها عدة أيام، ويستمر لأكثر من أسبوعين في ذهن قائلها. 
لذلك &ndash; في المرة القادمة حين تقرر مجاملة أحد &ndash; ابحث بشكل أعمق واختر صفات حقيقية يدوم أثرها للأبد.

&nbsp;I have searched for the benefits of compliments and discovered that rehearsing compliments help us deal better with our painful emotions and might lead us to regain our happiness and motivation. 
 
Compliments can make us feel good, valued, and appreciated. They rev up the same parts of the brain that are activated when we get paid a monetary award and may help us learn new skills or behaviors. 

Sometimes, compliments can be the crutch we rely on to belong, survive, and thrive. 
 
But is it possible to receive the wrong compliment?

Good intentions &hellip; Bad consequences: 
When I was sick, I used to only eat &quot;clean food. I committed to strict eating habits. I was obsessed with a &quot;healthy lifestyle&quot;, and was the best people pleaser. 
 
Ostensibly, it was the typical picture of health, and because of that, I received compliments on my thin body, my lifestyle, my eating habits, and my personality.

Those behaviors were the seeds of my eating disorder, and because what you water will grow; the praise I received for them made my Anorexia bloom.

That&#39;s why you should watch your words before paying a compliment.

Body-image ... Self-image: 
We live in a belief system that glorifies stereotypical bodies and ingrains the connection between body image and self-image. 
Turn on the television or just engage in a family-gathering conversation and you will meet with that system.

The obsession with weight loss, muscle building, and eating healthily is the way to be happier, stronger, and even loveable. 
Therefore, we adopt and encourage any behavior that can fulfill these needs in order to be safe and not feel left out of the herd. 
 
The Enabler &hellip; The Supporter: 
We don&#39;t know much about what others are going through. 
Some people don&#39;t have the ability to deal properly with their uncomfortable emotions, so they may go for numbing them, ignoring them, or searching for a purpose by embracing maladaptive mechanisms.

Controlling our bodies is one of these mechanisms and receiving compliments on that mechanism will automatically enhance it even if the givers don&#39;t intend or don&#39;t know the fallout.

According to Bethany Juby and Michelle Pugle, this is called &quot;enabling a behavior&quot;, which means; &quot;encouraging an unhelpful habit instead of empowering a helpful one.&quot; 

Praising food restrictions may mean that we are enabling a potential disorder or encouraging emotional numbness, and the only way to get out of this vicious cycle is by being the supporter. 
Helpful compliments: 
&quot;Our emotions tell us what is really important to us&quot;, said &quot;Carl Jung&quot;. 
 
Most of us have got used to the idea of accepting and celebrating the &quot;good&quot; emotions and ignoring or denying the &quot;bad&quot; ones. 
We have learned how to feel &quot;happy&quot; but not how to feel &quot;angry&quot;.

But emotions are emotions &ndash; and in fact, dealing with our &quot;bad&quot; emotions or discovering their underlying causes is the authentic definition of growth and emotional intelligence.

So, whenever you experience fear, anger, or whatever you name, try to recognize and feel it. 
And whenever you experience others&#39; fear or anger, try to respond in a healthy way.

You can give yourself the compliments you deserve. Make a list of what is good about you, which says nothing about your body or your appearance. Write about WHO YOU ARE, NOT HOW YOU LOOK. 

We also have to listen to others&#39; sufferings without judgment. 
&nbsp;Try not to fix or change their behaviours, and try not to comment on their bodies, or their eating habits.

Compliments enhance our happiness hormones. The effects of these hormones can last days with the receiver and up to two weeks with the giver.

So, the next time you want to compliment someone, go deeper and make your words last forever.

هل سألت نفسك لماذا التعافي يبدو صعب للغاية؟

في بعض الأحيان، الجواب هو أن اضطرابات الطعام تجعلك تنظر للأمر بنظرية &quot;العشب الأكثر الأخضرارا&quot;، ثم اكتشفت أن واقعها كان شيئا آخر، لذلك ظللت على مبدأ المماطلة والالتزام بمنطقة الراحة الخاصة بك لأنك لا تريد أن تبدأ من جديد.

لست وحدك. بل في الواقع، التعافى صعب. إنه طريق نحو عدم اليقين حيث نواجه التردد والحيرة، وأحيانا الخوف. قد تقودنا هذه المشاعر غير المريحة إلى التشكيك في العملية بأكملها، والتي بدورها يمكن أن تدفعنا إلى التوقف أو التراجع.

ولكن هنا هى الحقيقة حول هذه المرحلة الحرجة: إن التعافي هو الخروج من عنق الزجاجة.

ما هى مرحلة عنق الزجاجة؟ 

وفقا ل Merriam &ndash; Webster &nbsp;هى عتبة حساسة أو حالة وسيطة أو مرحلة. &nbsp;سيحصل أي شخص عبر هذه المساحة في حياتهم - ولكن نظرا لامتلاكنا العقل متبنئ، لا يتكيف بسهولة مع التغيرات او التحولات.

لماذا يعد مساحة حادة؟ 

عندما نقرر التعافي من اضطرابات الأكل، نحن نختار في الحقيقة النمو خارج منطقة راحتنا. لقد واجهت تلك المرحلة في بداية رحلتي إلى الشفاء التام. كانت مرحلة ما كان فيه ذهني مليئا ب &quot;الأسئلة&quot; والسيناريوهات الأسوأ.

وجب على التخلي عما كنت أؤمن به لمدة خمس سنوات تقريبًا، وكان علي أن أواجه نظامًا يؤيد و يمجد معايير غير الواقعية ، وكان علي اكتساب الوزن ، واضطررت إلى تجاهل ما قيل لى و ما يلاحظه الآخرون ، واضطررت إلى الايمان بال&quot;احتماليات&quot;&quot;

وهذا هو معنى المرحلة الانتقالية: أنت تتطلع إلى بداية جديدة واعدة بينما تعيش مع المجهول والإحتمالات: إذن ، هذا ما تعلمته من العيش في تلك المساحة.

اولا:- التركيز على الحاضر

&nbsp;ليس عليك ان تكون على دراية بكل شيء لبدء رحلتك نحو التعافي &nbsp;ما عليك سوى البدء ، والعمل بكل شيء ، والالتزام و الصبر وتذكر أن الماضي قد مضى ولا يمكننا التنبؤ بما سيحدث.

ثانيا:-الامتنان

&nbsp;إذا شعرت أنه لا يمكنك قبول اللحظة الحالية لأنها مليئة بالاستياء أو الندم ، يمكنك أن تبدأ في أن تكون أكثر امتنانًا لما لديك بالفعل. الامتنان يجلب الرضا، والرضا هو مفتاح السعادة

&nbsp;ثالثا:- تعاطف مع ذاتك

&nbsp;لا تكن قاص تجاه نفسك.&nbsp; كلنا نرتكب أخطاء ولا يجب أن نشعر بالخجل أو العار من ذلك. بدلًا من ذلك ، حاول الاستماع إلى نفسك الكامنة، وعامل نفسك بطريقة تستمتع بها حقًا ، واعف عن نفسك على كل ما فعلته

رابعا:- تقبل المشاعر غير المريحة

&nbsp;فقط لأن شيئًا ما يبدو سيئًا لا يعني أنه سيء فى الواقع.&nbsp; لذلك ، كلما واجهت مشاعر مؤلمة ، حاول أن تلاحظها ، ابق معها ، كن فضوليًا حيالها ، ثم اتركها

&nbsp;إن مشاعرنا المؤلمة موجودة لسبب ما ، لذا فإن محاولاتك لإبعادها ستؤدي إلى نتائج عكسية

&nbsp;خامسا:- لا تثق بأفكار اضطرابات الطعام

&nbsp;كلما التزمت أكثر بالشفاء ، زادت أصوات أفكار إضطرابات الطعام&nbsp;

في الواقع ، هذا يعني أنك على الطريق الصحي لذلك ، كلما واجهت الأفكار الغير مفيدة حول تقييد وجباتك أو استحقاقها أو محاولة حرقها ،قم بالفعل العكسى

&nbsp;سادسا:- ثق بجسدك

&nbsp;أجسادنا وعقولنا مرتبطة ببعضها البعض.&nbsp; من خلال الاستماع إلى احتياجات أجسادنا ، فإننا نرسل رسالة إلى أذهاننا بأننا نحترمها وسنستمع إليها وسنستجيب لها

&nbsp;سابعا:- الحيرة لن تدوم إلى الأبد

&nbsp;سوف تمر بالارتباك والشكوك والأسئلة التي لم تتم الإجابة عليها بعد.&nbsp; لكن تذكر أن المرحلة الحدية هي مجرد فترة مؤقتة.&nbsp; إنها مثل السحابة قبل الوضوح

&nbsp;ثامنا:- ابحث عن طقوس

&nbsp;للطقوس هياكل، لذا فهي أفضل إجابة لكسر الحلقة المفرغة للقلق. قم بإنشاء طقوس حيث تفعل كل ما يجلب لك السعادة وتذكر التخلص منه من حين لآخر.

&nbsp;تاسعا:- تذكر قيمتك

تعتبر اضطرابات الأكل من العوامل التى تتلاعب بك وبأفكارك. يمكنهم إقناعك بأنك لا شيء بدون قواعدهم.&nbsp; لكنك تعلم بالفعل أن هذه القواعد ضارة بجسمك وعقلك ولا تقل شيئًا عنك. امنح نفسك الإذن للأكل بحرية واحترم شعورك و ذات

عاشرا:- كن مبدعا

على الرغم من أنها مرحلة مقلقة، إلا أن الإبداع يمكن أن يلعب دور فى غاية الأهمية. اكتب ما تمر به؛&nbsp; أعد بناء قيمك، وجدد حدودك، وأنشئ تأكيداتك و تذكيراتك الخاصة

ليس عليك أن تكون مثاليًا عند بدء رحلتك ، حتى لو بدا الطريق قاتمًا، فقط ذكر نفسك أنك تنمو وأن التعافي يستحق.

Have you ever asked yourself why recovery seems so hard?

Sometimes, the answer is that your eating disorder made you picture the greener grass, then, you discovered that its reality was anything but that, so you kept procrastinating and sticking to your comfort zone because you didn&#39;t want to start over.

You are not alone.&nbsp;

&nbsp;In fact, recovery is hard. It&#39;s a path toward uncertainty where we face hesitation, perplexity and sometimes fear.

These uncomfortable emotions might lead us to question the whole process, which in turn, could prompt us to stop or regress. could prompt us to stop or regress. But here is the truth about this critical phase: recovery is a liminal space.

What is Liminal Space?

According&nbsp;to Merriam &ndash; Webster, &quot;Liminal&quot;&nbsp;is a sensory threshold or an intermediate state, phase, or condition.

Anyone will go through this space in their life &ndash; but because we inherently have a predictive mind that can&#39;t easily cope with change, the transition or the liminal phase would be the worst.

Why is recovery a liminal space?

When we decide to recover from an eating disorder, we actually choose to grow out of our comfort zone and head to the middle of nowhere.

I experienced that phase at the beginning of my journey to full recovery. It was a phase where my mind was full of &quot;what-if&quot; questions and worst-case scenarios.

I had to unlearn what I believed in for about 5 years, I had to face a belief system that glorifies unrealistic standards, I had to ignore what others said or noticed, and I had to commit to the uncertainty

And this is the meaning of the liminal phase:&nbsp;you are looking forward to a new and promising beginning while living with the unknown.

So, here is what I have learned from living in that space;

1-Focus on the &ldquo;now&rdquo;:

You don&#39;t have to know everything to begin your journey to recovery. Just start, go all-in, and commit to the process.

Remember that the past has passed and we can&#39;t predict what will happen.

2-Embrace gratitude:

If you feel that you can&#39;t accept the present moment because it is full of resentment or remorse, you can begin to be more grateful for what you already have. Gratitude brings satisfaction and satisfaction is the key to happiness

3-Practice self-compassion:

Stop being hard on yourself. We all make mistakes and we should never feel ashamed of that. Instead, try to listen to your authentic self, treat yourself with something you really enjoy, and forgive yourself for whatever you have done

4-Accept uncomfortable emotions:

Just because something feels bad doesn&#39;t mean it is bad. So, whenever you experience painful emotions, try to notice them, stay with them, be curious about them, and then, let them go. Our painful emotions are here for a reason, so your attempts to push them away will backfire

5-Never trust Ed&#39;s thoughts:

The more you commit to recovery, the louder your Ed&#39;s thoughts will be. In fact, it means that you are on the right path.

So, whenever you experience any unhelpful thoughts about restriction, earning, or burning off your meals, do the opposite

6-Trust your body:

Our bodies and minds are connected. By listening to our bodies&#39; needs, we are sending a message to our minds that we are aware and we will listen and respond.

7- Perplexity will never last forever:

You will go through confusion, doubts, and unanswered questions. But remember that your liminal phase is just a temporary period. It&#39;s like a cloud before clarity.

8-Find a ritual:

Rituals have structures, so it&#39;s the best answer to break the vicious cycle of anxiety. Create a ritual where you do whatever brings you joy and remember to shake it off occasionally.

9-Remember your worth:

Eating disorders are manipulators. They can convince you that you are nothing without their rules. But you already know that these rules are detrimental to your body and mind and say nothing about you.

Give yourself permission to eat well and honor your spirit

10-Be creative:

Although it is an unsettling phase, creativity can take the driver&#39;s seat. Write about what you are going through; rebuild your values, renew your boundaries, and create your affirmations

You don&#39;t have to be perfect when starting your journey, even if the road looks gloomy, even if Ed&#39;s thoughts are overwhelming, just remind yourself that you are growing and that recovery is worth&nbsp;
